The Heilman Cup, to Benefit Matthew's Center
The Heilman Cup honors Mark and Laurie Heilman, whose love for their son Matthew inspired the creation of Matthew's Center in 2000. What began as a dream to serve two students in a local church has blossomed into a fully accredited nonprofit special education day school serving over 30 students ages 5-22 with autism and other special needs in Manassas, Virginia. Licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities (VAISEF), Matthew's Center provides individualized instruction through Applied Behavior Analysis, helping each student develop communication, academic, vocational, and life skills in a nurturing environment.
The tournament embraces the monarch butterfly lifecycle as its theme—a powerful symbol of transformation and growth that mirrors the remarkable journey of every student at Matthew's Center. From egg to chrysalis to magnificent flight, each stage represents the potential within every child and the dedicated support needed to help them soar. Proceeds from The Heilman Cup directly fund educational programs, therapy services, specialized equipment, and facility improvements that make this transformation possible.
